The Mondo Eco literary festival celebrates the 80th anniversary of Liberation Day with several initiatives related to the theme of the Resistance this April.<\/p>\n\n
The program is designed in collaboration with the municipality of Pirri and the writer Emanuele Cioglia<\/p>\n\n
Several events are planned for Sunday, April 13, 2025<\/strong>, at 11:30 a.m. in the Ex Vetreria park. A literary picnic for children will be held, featuring a simple blanket spread out in the greenery, a healthy snack of biscuits and vegetables, and a chance to listen to Rita Atzeri read to the children, “Che storia La Resistenza!<\/strong>” (What a story, the Resistance!). The little ones will then be involved in simple role-playing games. <\/p>\n\n It’s 1943. Even as the world is torn apart by World War II, three young people find refuge in their friendship. But something will happen that will force them to become adults quickly and present them with a difficult choice: pretend nothing is happening or risk their lives for freedom. Recommended reading age: from 7 years.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n On April 16, 2025<\/strong>, at the Leopardi Middle School Theater on Via dei Partigiani, middle school students, led by Professor Alessandra Piras, will explore Sergio Badino’s literary work “A Thousand Red Poppies.”<\/strong> Beginning at 10:10 a.m., the students will participate in a singing workshop led by soprano Daniela Porru <\/strong>and a reading from the book for the next three hours. <\/p>\n\n Piero’s War is one of Fabrizio De Andr\u00e9’s most famous songs. This novel imagines Piero’s story before the scene described in the song. Growing up with his friends Nina and Luigi in a small village in the Monferrato hills, Piero spent his childhood and adolescence between school and playing in the wheat fields. His friendship with Nina gradually developed into a love that increasingly involved them both, but these were difficult years for Italy; the rise of fascism and the country’s entry into the war on the side of Nazi Germany forced him to follow a path he never expected: after helping Nina and her family emigrate, Piero was sent to the front. And it was in a poppy field, which reminded him of the scent of home, and with love for Nina in his heart, that he met the soldier “in a uniform of another color.” <\/p>\n\n The latest initiative is a small photography competition for middle and high school students<\/strong> entitled \u201cLiberation Day.<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n The students will be asked to capture in a snapshot what they consider the most significant image of Liberation Day 2025 in Cagliari and the surrounding area. To do so, they will have to participate in the procession and unleash their creativity. The photos, sent to festivalecomondo@gmail.com, will be printed and exhibited at Casa Saddi on April 30, 2025, at the inauguration at 5:00 PM. The book, the inspiration for the “Una giusta distanza” competition by Luca Cognolato and Silvia del Francia, will also be presented at the event.
