Fiorella is an Orientalist, specifically a Japanologist, with a background in anthropology, as well as a scholar of feminist thought and women’s cinema. She has lived in Asia (Japan-Bali-Melbourne) and when in Italy she spends her time in Venice, Rome and Palermo. A follower of Vandana Shiva’s thinking on ecofeminism, she is interested in protest movements and, most recently, in women’s pacifism. In 2014-15, two crowdfunding campaigns financed her project entitled “I reportage di Donna Reporter: diamo voce e visibilità alle donne che in Asia stanno cambiando il mondo” (Women Reporters’ Reports: giving voice and visibility to women who are changing the world in Asia). As climate issues took the centre stage of urban protests in 2019, she published “Extinction Rebellion e la rivoluzione climatica” (Extinction Rebellion and the Climate Revolution) with Multimage in 2020. In 2022 and 2024, thanks to two crowdfunding campaigns, she published “Women between protest and activism. Environment, economy, society” and “Woman Pride. Twenty interviews that testify to the courage, vision and talent of women”, both with Multimage. On 3 November 2025, she published “Resistance. From Gaza to Afghanistan to Myanmar” with Multimage. A passionate blogger, she has been running the blog “Donna Reporter” since 2013, followed by “Le interviste di Donna Reporter” and the latest “La rivoluzione ambientale”. She collaborates with the Italian press group of XR and with the movement’s International Newsletter.
