This section is dedicated to teachers, teens, and children. You'll find a selection of free texts, in digital format and audiobooks, on environmental topics, as well as stories that teach little ones how to care for the environment.

E-books for adults

The MEDIALIBRARY website is the digital lending platform with the largest collection of content for all Italian libraries.

To download free e-books and audiobooks, you must first verify that your local library participates in the project (check here); if so, you must contact them to request your login credentials.

You can then browse the categories and choose all the free resources your library makes available to users.

On this page you’ll find interesting e-books and audiobooks on environmental issues, by authors such as Greta Thunberg, Giorgio Vacchiano, and Foer.

FreeBook Ambiente is a free online library on sustainability topics, featuring books from the publishing house Edizioni Ambiente as well as various authors, institutions, organizations, and companies that distribute digital texts while avoiding waste, in line with sustainability principles.

To download free ebooks and audiobooks from Freebook Ambiente, you must register here by filling out the fields with your first and last name, email address, password, and address.

E-Biblioteca offers a vast catalogue of classical literature, both Italian and foreign (in Italian and the original language), essays, manuals, history and biographies.

Raiplay Sound is the RAI website with free registration that allows you to enjoy a variety of content including audiobooks from the RaiRadio3 program “Ad Alta Voce”.

Openmol is an open digital library with thousands of ebooks, audiobooks, videos, video games, and much more.

Libroparlato, the International Center for Talking Books website helps those with visual impairments or for whom traditional reading is impossible by creating TALKING BOOKS (AUDIOBOOKS) recorded with a human voice. To access the audiobooks on the platform, registration is required for those with certified reading difficulties.

Loyalbooks, previously called “BooksShouldBeFree,” it’s a site with more than 7,000 free audiobooks, mostly in English but also in other languages, including Italian, French, German, and Spanish. Audiobooks can be downloaded or streamed. The catalog is diverse and also includes excellent fantasy and science fiction works, such as the works of H.G. Wells.

Librivox, american collaborative project to which anyone can contribute: volunteers read books, articles, and texts that are in the public domain under US law (i.e., anything published before 1923 in the United States).
Please note: Audiobooks are not perfectly recorded by professional speakers, but by ordinary users. Therefore, you may encounter files of variable quality, readings with non-native English accents, and some pronunciation inaccuracies. You can select the language you want to listen to.

Liber Liber, to download the audio tracks from the Talking Book project to your PC, simply right-click on the file itself, and then click on “Save link as…” or “Save target as”, or on “Save Target As…” (or a similar command), depending on the browser you are using.

Spotify, Spotify audiobooks: simply sign up and search for available audiobooks. Currently, most are in English, but several libraries and publishers have made their audiobooks available in Italian. You can also search from the platform’s main menu.

Discovering forestry

Professor Boschetti isn't sure how to explain the complex concept of "forestry" to his students, but here's the solution... a trip to the woods! The outing will be an opportunity for students to meet the various professionals involved in forest management and learn about the great art of balance and sustainability that is forestry. This first volume in the “Discovering the Forest” series, dedicated to primary school students, is available in Italian and French and was published by the Forestry Department of the Piedmont Region, created by I.P.L.A. S.p.a. and Compagnia delle Foreste as part of the Interreg Alcotra 2014-2020 “EVOFOREST” project.
