The birth and death of a hurricane in newspapers, on television and on social media. How can we decipher the rhetoric of war and neo-colonial cultures through the skilful staging of territories and bodies? When we say “Paris 2024”, we are talking about sport? We are also talking about spectacularised places. And when we say “Climate Conference”, what are we referring to – what has happened, or what has been promised? This book deals with the way territories exist in the media: globalised societies as well as local communities. A new geographical view of the world that does not need to be real, but only needs to be slightly realistic, in order to exist. And it certainly does not need to be true, but only passably plausible.
