Marcello Tanca teaches Geography at the Department of Literature, Languages, and Cultural Heritage at the University of Cagliari. His research has focused on the role of geography within the cultural dynamics of modernity, on landscape—investigated both in its theoretical aspects and those more closely linked to the territory of Sardinia—on immigration to Cagliari, and on the relationship between geography and fiction. He is the author, for Franco Angeli, of Geography and Philosophy. Working materials (2012) and Geography and fiction. Opera, film, song, comic (2020). With Marco Maggioli he translated and edited the critical edition of Augustin Berque’s volumes Essere umani sulla terra (2021) and Pensare il paesaggio (2022). Since 2021 he has been coordinator of the AGeI (Association of Italian Geographers) Landscape Studies group.
